Impressed by Opel's production facilities, General Motors decided to buy 80% of the company, in 1929. Three years later, General Motors entirely directed the company. Many of the Opels cars are sold worldwide under other GM brand names, such as Vauxhall in the UK, Holden in Australia and New Zealand, Saturn or Pontiac in North America, and Chevrolet in Latin America.
