Opel is a German automaker which began to make automobiles in 1899. The company was founded by Adam Open in Rüsselsheim in 1863. They were originally manufacturing sewing machines and bicycles. In 1929, General Motors acquired the company. Along with Vauxhall, Opel is General Motors' largest European brand. Visit the official Opel site. See the ads Opel wanted below.
Opel
Impressed by Opel's production facilities, General Motors decided to buy 80% of the company, in 1929. Three years later, General Motors entirely directed the company. Many of the Opels cars are sold worldwide under other GM brand names, such as Vauxhall in the UK, Holden in Australia and New Zealand, Saturn or Pontiac in North America, and Chevrolet in Latin America. Opel
Opel was imported to the United States under their own name from 1958 to 1975, when they were sold through Buick dealers. Opel was successful in Japan, as the brand was long GM's strongest marque. In Europe, Opel is the main GM brand name, except in the UK. See also the ads Opel wanted below.
