LaFayette Motors Corporation was an American automobile manufacturer founded in 1919. The company was named in honor of the Marquis de la Fayette. See the ads Lafayette wanted below.
Originally headquarted in Indianapolis, LaFayette was specialized in manufacturing luxury cars. The first Lafayette cars appeared in 1920. The next year, Charles W. Nash, president of Nash Motors, became president of LaFayette. In 1924, all the LaFayette cars were sold under the name of Nash after Nash Motors became the full owner of LaFayette Motors. In 1934, Nash introduced a new line of smaller and less expensive cars under the name of LaFayette. In 1938, Nash and LaFayette merged their names and simply became Nash LaFayette. See also the ads Lafayette wanted below.
