Automobiles Darracq S.A. was a French manufacturing company founded in 1896 by Alexandre Darracq. Darracq partnered with the German automaker, Opel and started producing vehicles under the brand name "Opel Darracq" In 1902. Darracq later joined Alfa Romeo after the company shut down in 1909. During World War I, the Darracq factory were converted to the production of various war materials. When the war ended, Darracq took over British Talbot. The latter models became Talbot-Darracqs. See the ads Darracq wanted below.
In 1953, a 1904 Darracq model car was the centerpiece of a British film directed by Henry Cornelius and titled Genevieve. The film was so successful that vintage automobile collecting and restoration have been increased since then. See also the ads Darracq wanted below.
